Meet the Lead Pastor & Family

Brentley Wright

The Wright Family
Brentley Wright
Lead Pastor & Church Planter
Brentley Wright, hailing from Rocky Mount, NC, is a product of a family deeply rooted in faith, with a legacy of devoted ministers spanning generations. Embracing his spiritual journey, Brentley embraced Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at a young age and embarked on a path of ministry during his teenage years. As he delved into preaching and teaching the Word of God, he discovered a profound passion for helping others comprehend the beautiful truth within the Scriptures, having grown up in a second-generation pastoral family.
Pursuing theological education at Grimke Seminary, Brentley received a Bachelor of Divinity with a focus on Urban Ministry. Excited for his next step in Theological Studies, he is pursuing a Master of Sacred Theology to serve his church effectively in practical ministry.
Central to Brentley's mission is his dedication to ministry in urban communities, where he seeks to meet spiritual, logistical, and existential needs through prayer and Christ-centered, biblical teaching. He firmly believes the good news of Jesus Christ is the sole purpose of life itself.
Amidst his myriad roles, Brentley finds no greater joy than raising his family with the love he shares with his wife, Kellie, and their two sons, Jaden and Justice Wright, in Durham, NC.

Standing on a Faithful Foundation
The Legacy of Rev. Dr. Adolphus Smith

Rev. Dr. Adolphus Smith (1927-2022) was a faithful servant of Christ whose 95 years of life were marked by unwavering devotion to God, exemplary leadership, and profound impact on countless lives. His ministry was characterized by excellence in biblical teaching, genuine care for people, and a commitment to raising up the next generation of leaders.
Dr. Smith understood that true pastoral work extends beyond the pulpit—it encompasses discipleship, community engagement, and building lasting spiritual foundations. His marriage to Jessie Parker Smith was a testimony of covenant faithfulness, and together they raised a family grounded in faith and service.
The establishment of Third Day Church honors this legacy by continuing the work Dr. Smith began—proclaiming the gospel with clarity, shepherding God's people with love, and investing in the spiritual development of families and communities. His grandchildren, Brentley & Kellie Wright, carry forward this mantle with deep reverence for the past and bold vision for the future.

What We Believe
Every Heart Transformed Testifies to the Reign of Christ
"We believe the gospel is the news that Jesus died for our sins (Mark 1:15, 1 Corinthians 15:1-4), is the power of salvation (Romans 1:16), saving us by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone (Ephesians 2:8-9), and empowering us for the mission of disciple-making throughout Granville County (Matthew 28:18-20, Acts 1:8).
