Legacy
Rev. Dr. Adolphus Smith
1927 – 2022 · Caswell County, NC — Creedmoor, NC
Graduate of Morehouse College. Pastor of Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church in Oxford, NC for thirty years. Resident of Creedmoor, Granville County until his passing. A man who did not seek a national platform — he sought his neighbors. This center bears his name because it bears his spirit: faithful, rooted, generational presence in a community that deserves it.
"The most important thing a person can do is stay, serve, and invest in the people around them."

How the Center Works
The Adolphus Smith Center is not another school competing with existing institutions. It is a presence — partnering with schools, strengthening families, and providing the formation, support, and navigation that families cannot access elsewhere. We measure success in decades, not semesters.
Lane Highlight
Roots
Grades K–5 · Ages 5–11 — Foundations for a Lifetime
Literacy acceleration, numeracy foundations, character formation, and structured mentorship with adult volunteers. We partner with families through parent nights, homework help, and after-school enrichment to build the academic and moral foundations everything else stands on.
Lane Highlight
Grow
Grades 6–8 · Ages 11–14 — Identity, Courage & Direction
Identity formation, leadership development cohorts, and exploratory learning in STEM, arts, and trades. Same-gender mentorship and career exploration help students discover who they are and where they're headed during the most pivotal years.
Lane Highlight
Launch
Grades 9–12 · Ages 14–18 — Post-Secondary Navigation & Purpose
College applications, scholarship and FAFSA navigation, vocational pathways, financial literacy, and SAT/ACT prep. Every senior gets a dedicated adult mentor — one adult per student — to walk with them through the launch.
Every student leaves with a plan, a mentor who knows their name, and a community that celebrates their direction.
Your Journey Through the Center
From first connection to launch day, here's how a student moves through the Adolphus Smith Center.
1.Connect
Families connect with the Center through a referral, community partner, or direct inquiry. We get to know the student and their story.
2.Enroll
Students are placed in the appropriate developmental lane — Roots, Grow, or Launch — based on age, need, and goals.
3.Develop
Over months and years, students build academic skills, character, and relationships with mentors who know their name.
4.Launch
Every student leaves with a plan — for college, a trade, or a career — and a community that celebrates their direction.
Not Another School.
A Presence.
Granville County does not need another institution competing with its schools. It needs a center that partners with existing educational structures while providing the formation, support, and navigation that families cannot access elsewhere.
The Adolphus Smith Center is a ministry of Third Day Church Foundation — gospel-rooted, community-centered, and built for the long arc. We measure success in decades, not semesters.

Walk With Us.
The Adolphus Smith Center is in its founding phase. We are building a board, recruiting mentors, and seeking partners who believe that faithful, rooted presence changes communities — one student at a time.
